Gasometric Determination of Oxalic Acid and Calcium, and Its Application to Serum Analysis.* by Donald

چکیده
is the basis of most of the calcium methods current in biological chemistry, the amount of oxalate in precipitated calcium oxalate being determined by titrimetric measurement of the permanganate utilized. In this paper we present results showing that the oxalate can be determined with equal accuracy by measurement in the Van Slyke-Neil1 (1924) manometric apparatus, and that the gasometric procedure can be applied with especial advantage to micro determination of serum calcium. The advantage of the gasometric method in micro analyses is indicated by the fact that the oxalate precipitated by 0.1 mg. of Ca, the amount in 1 cc. of ordinary serum, reduces in titration only 0.50 cc. of the 0.01 N permanganate used in the Kramer and Tisdall (1921) method, while by the gasometric procedure the COZ produced exerts at 0.5 cc. a pressure of about 160 mm. to read on the Van Slyke-Neil1 manometer. The permanganate without unusual precautions can hardly be measured with better than 4 per cent accuracy, while 1 per cent is easily attainable in the manometric measurement. With larger amounts of oxalate to determine, titration and gasometric measurement yield precise and identical results.

The rate of metal transfer from the solid phase to solution is an important factor governing their concentration in the soil solution and its availability. In this research, the release rate of Zn in contaminated soils from Isfahan was studied using solutions citric acid, oxalic acid and malic acid 0/01 M during the period of 2 - 504 hours and its relationship with soil characteristics was inve...
متن کاملOxalic Acids in Vegetables Determination of Free and
Vegetables generally contain more or less oxalic acid, which is produced by metabolism in cytoplasm.12 Most of the oxalic acid is fixed as calcium oxalate to protect protoplasm from its toxic action.3 Vegetables containing a considerable quantity of oxalic acid are usually boiled before being cooked to remove any harshness.4 The oxalic acid contained in food is determined by the KMnO4 titration...
متن کاملRole of Hydrogen Transfer and Ionic Bonding on RR, SS and RS Medetomidine Conglomerates/Acids Stability: A Theoretical Study
This study focuses on RR, SS and RS medetomidine (MM) and inclusion of several achiral acids to distinguish which acid can help conglomerate formation instead of crystallizating racemic mixtures by defining the low-lying energy of their structures. Favorable orientation of acids was determined in interaction with the MM enantiomers after optimization. The most noticeable interactions include hy...
متن کاملDetermination of Isosorbide Dinitrate in Serum by Gas Chromatography with New Generation of Electron Capture Detector and its Application in Pharmacokinetic Study
Isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) is an effective drug in treatment of angina pectoris. In this study a new generation of electron capture detector (non-radioactive) with a short, non-polar and wide-bore column was used for analysis of ISDN in human serum. ISDN was extracted from serum by a mixture of ether and ethyl acetate and concentrated at room temperature. The method was linear between 5-50...
